Newmar History

The Hitch House is now Newmar's Ontario Full-line Dealer stocking Bay Star, Bay Star Sport, Canyon Star, Kountry Star, Ventana, Dutch Star, Mountain Aire, London Aire, Essex and the King Aire.

Newmar's legacy started with the construction of quality 5th Wheel trailers. In 1969 The Hitch House started its retail operations selling travel trailers and related RV products. By 1991 The Hitch House made the strategic decision to specialize strictly in Motorhomes. Since then The Hitch House Motorhome Specialists considerably expanded the breadth and depth of its motorhome inventory. As a natural consequence of this growth, The Hitch House carefully and methodically expanded its manufacturer relationships. As The Hitch House's market share grew so did the volume of sales of its luxury diesel pusher motorhomes. This growth did not go unnoticed and The Hitch House was approached by every motorhome manufacturer in the RV industry.

 

In the spring of 2007, Tracey Drover the former Eastern Canadian Sales Representative for Newmar Corporation approached Dave McKee (founder) and Tom Stoate (President) and presented an opportunity to become Newmar's Ontario motorhome dealer. The offer was not only exciting but Dave and Tom considered this to be a compliment to The Hitch House's success. RV Dealers all over North America coveted the opportunity to stock Newmar's Diesel Pusher Motorhomes. With every new venture there are logistics to navigate in order to satisfy the requirements of both organizations. The relationship took several months to formalize and in September 2007, The Hitch House Motorhome Specialists officially became a Newmar dealer.

 

Interestingly, the majority of the life of the Newmar / Hitch House relationship has been during one of the most difficult economic climates in recent history. The relationship has continued to flourish.

 

In October 2014, The Hitch House and Newmar expanded their commitment to one another. As a dedicated Newmar dealer The Hitch House now stocks: Bay Star Sport, Bay Star, Canyon Star, Kountry Star, and Ventana; in addition to Dutch Star, Mountain Aire, London Aire, Essex and the King Aire.

 

Both Newmar & The Hitch House are looking forward to a bright future together. Now with the completion of The Hitch House Design Centre there is an added level of service available to our customers. The Hitch House Design Centre provides our mutual customers with a facility and environment where customers can personalize and order their new Newmar coach.
