Controller
(Reports to President)

After 30+ years of keeping us on the straight and narrow and helping us to grow this operation to its current size, our beloved controller is taking a well-deserved retirement.  

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Hitch House has been a family owned business for nearly 50 years and our success is a testament to the quality and commitment of our staff.  Strict and accurate control of our accounting and finances is critical to our ongoing success.  Our management team is proud of the respect we have earned from our bankers, manufacturers, government agencies and the community due to our long standing reputation for prompt payment, providing accurate financials, maintaining organized & complete records, our sound financial condition and ongoing community involvement.  The successful candidate will be professional with a strong work ethic, excellent analytical skills and an emphasis on precision.  

Reporting to the President, you will help guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures for The Hitch House and its related companies.  You will protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.  In addition, it is expected that you will monitor and confirm financial condition and when required provide accurate information to external auditors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting and cash flow maintenance
  • Perform daily accounting functions, including account reconciliations, GL management, accounts receivable, inter-company transfers and monthly accruals.
  • Ensure payments and compliance with regulatory governmental agencies including HST Remittance, WSIB and Corporate Tax are completed on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for setting monthly exchange rate for departmental claims and purchases as well as acquiring US funds as directed by the President.
  • Maintain loyalty programs, office supplies and complete survey requests for government agencies (ex. Statistics Canada) and industry associations.

Financial Management Reporting
  • Prepare motorhome sale summaries and verify commission requests for payroll.
  • Prepare, analyze and present weekly, monthly, and yearly financial reports (Cash Flow, Income Statement & Balance Sheet) including bank compliance documentation.
  • Prepare year end file for accountants.
  • Maintain efficient paper/electronic filing systems.

Supervisory Responsibility
  • Responsible for the direct supervision of the Payroll and A/P Clerk
  • Oversee the Daily Cash Reports as completed by Reception
  • Basic Human Resource tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS

Technical
•    Extensive Accounting and Finance Experience
•    Demonstrated Management Skills
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications such as Word and Excel.
•    Related educational experience an asset

Personal

•    Energetic, self-motivated, self-directed
•    Excellent verbal and written communication
•    Team player, willingness to share expertise

Education
•    College Diploma or University Degree or extensive accounting experience

COMPENSATION

Compensation will be commensurate with experience.  The pay structure will include a base salary plus a year-end bonus based on the overall performance of the dealership.

Parts Advisor

It has always been our intention to make service and parts a prime segment of our business and, after 45+ years our customers will tell you that it was worth the effort.  Standards and technology are always changing and a commitment to full service has been critical to our success and growth.  With a 7,000 square foot ultramodern Accessories Store and a 17-bay fully equipped and expertly staffed service department, we're confident that we are taking the right steps.  We are continually improving our facilities and we have a brand new main building following a massive fire in November 2012.  Our goal is to be the best Motorhome Dealership in Canada.  With this in mind our size, expertise and reputation have earned us the recognition of Spartan, Ford and Onan as their authorized service centre.

POSITION DESCRIPTION


At The Hitch House, our number one responsibility is taking care of our customer.  The successful candidate will be responsible for providing prompt and courteous service to both our customers and Service Centre staff.  As a member of the Parts Team, you will be required to work co-operatively with the service technicians and service writers to ensure that our customers' Motorhomes receive fast, efficient and cost-effective repairs and service.

You must demonstrate the ability to successfully sell Accessories products to our customers.  You will require/receive professional/technical support from your peers and dealership management to assist you in the selling process.  

Critical to our success is the proper maintenance of our inventory.  You must be conscientious and detailed in your approach to maintaining tight control of our inventory.  Furthermore, you must be willing to learn and understand our inventory procedures and dealership software (IDS-G2) to assist you in your position.  

The Hitch House has been designed for growth opportunities.  We are seeking an individual that will embrace our entrepreneurial spirit and help us achieve our growth goals.  Opportunities for advancement exist within the Parts' Department.  Other advancement opportunities are available within our Sales and Service departments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Selling
•    Demonstrate products to our Motorhome customers.
•    Consciously look for up-sale opportunities.
•    Source products at our customers' request (ie. Special order parts - tow bar brackets etc).
•    Receive phone in requests and provide appropriate recommendations.
•    Continuously look for new and innovative ways to merchandise store products to improve inventory turns.

 
Administrative
•    Updating work orders with specific parts/accessories.
•    Maintain product codes in IDS-G2.
•    Ordering parts online and by phone from suppliers (RV manufacturers, Distributors).
•    Maintain appropriate stocking levels.
•    Researching/Sourcing non-inventory parts.
•    Receiving parts inventory.
•    Reconcile IDS-G2 inventory balances with physical inventory balances.
•    Recognize dormant products and take appropriate action (ie. returns, exchanges, etc).
•    Maintain a clean and orderly showroom and stock room.
•    Keep showroom's stock complete and full.
•    Recognize opportunities for increased margins by comparing products from multiple suppliers.
•    Process point-of-sale transactions as required.

Relationship Development
•    Cultivate rapport with suppliers, customers and internal staff.

Professional Development
•    Develop/maintain product knowledge.
•    Develop/maintain general Motorhome knowledge and general market intelligence.
•    You will be required to attend industry trade shows as a purchaser and from time to time as an exhibitor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Technical
•    Experience in a retail environment ie. Customer Service, Merchandising
•    Mechanical aptitude essential
•    Computer literate - experience with Windows applications
•    Related educational experience an asset
•    Inventory control experience an asset

Compensation

Yard Maintenance and RV Cleaning Position

Job Description

The ideal candidate enjoys physical work with a variety and has an eye for detail.  We are seeking an individual who likes to work outside and in a shop setting.  You must have a valid driver's license and be comfortable driving a variety of equipment. 

The duties include but are not limited to:

Yard Maintenance
•    Cutting and trimming grass using riding and push mowers
•    Gardening
•    Shovelling walkways or RV roofs seasonally when required

Detailing and RV Maintenance
•    Washing 19' to 45' RV's using brushes and/or power washers
•    Assisting detail team in cleaning and refurbishing Motorhomes
•    Applying protection products to RV's including under coating and paint seal

Other
•    Assist in heavy lifting
•    Janitorial duties in all buildings
•    Possible training to fill propane tanks
