It's Coming Soon

Friday October 18, 2013

In many areas we are entering the final phase of construction. Painting, tile, architectural stone and landscaping are all in progress. Ever since November 27th 2012, the date of the fire, the entire Hitch House team has been working towards the day we would be in our new home. That day is coming soon.

Motorhome Showroom

The Hitch House motorhome showroom is nearing completion. It was very satisfying to watch the new concrete floor being poured. It is now covered with a protective sheathing until the end of the construction. With all the overhead doors, man doors, insulation and framing complete we are nearly there. The painter from Tri-Star Interiors has already primed the massive block wall that separates the Motorhome Showroom from the Parts & Accessories Store. Two of the three 16' wide by 14' high overhead doors that access the showroom require exterior ramps. The footings and retaining walls for these ramps have been poured, backfilled and Eisses Landscaping Services will meld them into the new landscaping.

Parts' Store & Office Space

All of the framing has now been completed including the decorative bulkheads in the Parts' & Accessories Store. Tri-Star Interiors is applying the drywall and they are making great progress. In fact, inside the front doors Century Masonry have already completed one wall with architectural stone. The second floor of drywall is substantially done this includes the administrative and management offices as well as our boardroom.

Service Bays

The entire floor of the Service Bays has been poured and is complete. Bruno Poiretta of Tile Works has been busy installing floor and walls tiles in the men's & ladies washrooms dedicated specifically to our service staff. The main customer washrooms will follow very soon. A Plus Door Service Ltd. of Shanty Bay have installed all six of the 14' wide by 14' high overhead service bay doors.

Exterior

We thank Barrie Glass & Mirror Ltd. for completing the installation of ALL of the windows. Lido Wall Systems has finished applying the stucco on the exterior of the showroom and are now busy applying it to the east wall. Midhurst Roofing has completed the entire roof installation. The retaining walls at the end of the building are also finished. Eisses Landscaping Services has already started the landscaping that will encircle the showroom and encompass the front entrance. Gotz Awnings has installed the vast majority of the awnings to help cool the showroom in the summer months.

Fire Suppression

Morris Shelswell & Sons has completed the installation of the 165,000 litre water tanks. These tanks will provide the water for the sprinkler system and the newly installed fire hydrant.

Infrastructure

Into this building we incorporated a facility that will house the electrical room, stacked dual air compressors, water pump for the sprinkler system, and our new industrial pressure washer. Supplied by Clean Ontario our new Landa VHG Series Natural Gas Heated Hot Water Pressure Washer will spoil our Detail Team. This pressure washer boasts a 400,000 BTU burner, up to 8.0 gallons/minute and a maximum of 3,000 PSI.

The intensity continues and our property is nearly overrun with construction workers from different trades and companies. These companies have been working very hard and have been respectful of us, our business and our customers. Dave McKee (The Hitch House founder and co-owner), Don Eagles (Project Manager - Eagles Building & Constructing) and Steve McCutcheon (Site Supervisor) are all working in tandem with the singular goal for us to have occupancy approval by November 26th.
